Dowager Restoration

The keel is positioned and blocked for fitting of the shaft log and horn timber.

With the assembly in position Mike Becker checks the fit before removing it for final shaping.

The shaft log with attached horn timber are bolted to the keel using 1/2" bronze slots

With the aft section of the keel in place, new ribs may now be fitted.

Here a hot rib is emerging from the steamer.

A hot rib is placed in position. It must be driven into place quickly before it cools and loses its flexibility.

The rib is driven down between the hull planking and the bilge stringers
to take the place of one previously removed.
